The process of growing an Air Force has been filled with accomplishments and setbacks. One setback occurred May 30, 2005, when an Iraqi Air Force Comp Air 7SL aircraft crashed in eastern Diyala province during an operational mission, killing all five airmen (four U.S. Air Force and one Iraqi Air Force) onboard.

WIA - SSgt Esposito
It is with sad news that I report we had yet another wounded operator last week. SSgt Mark Esposito of the 21 STS Team. He was wounded when the GMV he was riding in was struck by an IED. He's in tact and overall -- doing pretty well. His injuries include head and facial trauma, broken lower back, broken legs and feet. He was flown to Walter Reed yesterday where he was greeted by fellow teammates from the Pope team.
He's in good spirits and very motivated to get started on his recovery.
When he came to after surgery in Afghan, first two things he asked of Lt Col Martin were: "how were his teammates and when could he go back to the field." I tell you that just to illustrate how strong he is and what kind of people we have in STS.
Thanks for all you are doing... what ever and where ever it is you do for ST. You are all important -- period.
Please keep Mark and his folk's in your prayers.
