DESCRIPTION:
Provide oversight of Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (SUAS) Program Management and training program while providing Joint Terminal Attack Control (JTAC) support and instruction. Interested individuals will eventually be qualified as both SUAS pilot and trainer. Personnel must develop and maintain SUAS specific training folders for maintenance of flight logs and SUAS training documentation. Personnel are required to train selected personnel in SUAS operations.

Ft. Benning, GA USA

REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of 2 years JTAC experience as defined in AFI 13-112 Volumes 1 and 2. A JTAC-I or JTAC-E qualification is highly desirable. Individuals preferably should come from either the TACP/CCT/ANGLICO/USMC/ARMY community, with the aforementioned qualifications. Applicants must have a current Secret security clearance. A Top Secret security clearance is desirable.

If interested in the GOO suggest you go on line for tickets and coupons for shows. Artists for the new GOO House are yet to be confirmed; however Larry Gatlin will be performing on 17 May at the Ryman Auditorium which is the original GOO House in downtown Nashville.

Level I Support
- Provide ground aggressors to Special Operations Forces (SOF) air and ground units.
- Provide armed, costumed, mobile and indigenous appearing role players during ISR and patterns-of-life training for airborne sensor-equipped aircraft. Assist SOF air and ground units in urban ISR training.
- Operate electronic and visual threat emitters and simulators.
- Provide role playing as: armed resistance units opposing U.S. and allied SOF ground units; foreign customs and/or military officials during aircrew training; and armed indigenous local threat during SERE-conducted Combat Survival Training.
- Provide maritime/boat operator support to: SERE-conducted water survival training; tilt/rotary wing aircraft during water operations training; and SOF ground forces during water/SCUBA operations including parachute recovery, infil/exfil missions, dive platform and other waterborne operations as required by the training scenario.
- Assist authorized Test squadrons/units in evaluating new equipment and procedures.
- Provide similar type OPFOR training support when required by the training scenario or as designated by local command.
- Use, operate and control simulated IEDs, blank ammunition, ground burst simulators and other training pyrotechnics as required. Maintain accountability IAW AF/A4LW AFKN CoP Munitions Accountability Procedures Guide and other local guidelines.
- Use, operate, control and maintain actual and simulated weapons to include U.S., NATO, foreign, simulated munitions (simunitions) and other training weapons.
- Develop, manage and maintain an OPFOR augmentee training and tracking program.

Level II Support
- As Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Ground Observers, provide flight following, traffic advisories as well as any required assistance or necessary asset protection to RPA aircraft while operating in FAA Class “D” and Class “E” airspace or as designated by the mission/training scenario.

Level III Support
- Provide JTAC-qualified contractor for target acquisition, Call-for-Fire (CFF) and Close Air Support (CAS) to assigned and authorized gunship/armament-equipped aircraft. Training support will include live and dry fire training.
- Provide ground parties for convoys, patterns-of-life and indigenous actions for aircraft and sensor training. Develop, manage and maintain an ISR augmentee training and tracking program.

Level IV Support
- Landing Zones (LZ). Type landing zones will be mission specific and can include, but are not limited to dirt LZs, military installations and commercial and/or municipal airports. Supported aircraft will include, but are not limited to Non-Standard Aviation (NSAv), MC/C-130, C-17 and CV-22 tilt-rotor aircraft.
- Drop Zones (DZ). Support to all aircraft conducting airdrop training operations. Type drops will include, but are not limited to Heavy Equipment (HE), Container Delivery System (CDS), High Speed Low Level Aerial Delivery System (HSLLADS) and HALO/Static Line Personnel. Supported aircraft will include, but are not limited to Non-Standard Aviation (NSAv), MC/C-130 and C-17 aircraft.
- DZ, LZ, Helicopter Landing Zone (HLZ) and Forward Area Refueling Point (FARP) surveying. Provide Administrative surveying of DZ, LZ, HLZ and FARP locations following the guidelines of AFI 13-217, AFI 11-235, any applicable Engineering Technical Letters (ETL) and Flight Crew Information Files (FCIFs).

Fourteen special tactics Airmen from the 22nd Special Tactics Squadron, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., were presented two Purple Hearts and 15 Bronze Stars, five of which were with Valor.Lt. Gen. Eric Fiel, commander of Air Force Special Operations Command, hosted the ceremony, presenting the medals to 10 combat controllers and four tactical air control party members.

Robert M. (Bob) Hill has passed

1940 - 2012

CHICOPEE - Robert MacMillan Hill, 72, died suddenly on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 at the Holyoke Medical Center. Born in Holyoke on Jan. 17, 1940, he was the son of the late G. Howard Hill and Corneil (MacMillan) Hill. Bob worked as a Computer Tech for IBM for 27 years until he retired in 1995. He was an Army veteran and served from 1959 - 1962. He then served in the Air Force from 1963 - 1967 as an Airman First Class during the Vietnam War. He was a Master Parachutist and HALO (High Altitude Low Openings) commando combat controller. Bob was also a member of the American Legion, Holyoke Post.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl A. (Bigelow) Hill, a son, Troy L. Hill of Longmeadow, a daughter, TaWonda L. Hill Patchkofsky of Springfield, three brothers, Frank Hill of Holyoke, Harry Hill of Ludlow and Jack Hill of Amherst, four grandchildren, Dante' Hill, DeVaughn Hill, Cassondra Hill Patchkofsky and Grason Patchkofsky, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held for Bob on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10:30am in the Evergreen Cemetery in South Hadley. There are no calling hours.

National Museum of the USAF Restoration: M151A1 CCT Jeep (Vietnam)

Greetings on behalf of the National Museum of the United States Air Force. We are nearing the end of our restoration and are about ready to paint and mark our M151A1 CCT Jeep with MRC-108 Radio. Before this artifact can be placed on exhibit to tell the story of AF CCTs in Vietnam we need to make sure that we have access to the best information to guarantee these markings will be correct representations of the vehicles in actual service.

If possible, would your membership please review their personal collections for imagery (B&W or color) of these vehicles in use in Southeast Asia. Reliable markings information is limited, and we need to confirm the markings for accuracy. We would very much appreciate any assistance you can provide. Your timely assistance is requested as we wish to get this vehicle in place and on exhibit for our continuing Southeast Asia War Commemoration.

John Preston Underwood has Passed

JULY 4, 1932 - DECEMBER 30, 2011

BELTON, SC. - John Preston Underwood, 79, of Belton, went home to heaven on Friday, December 30, 2011 at his residence. Born in Greenup, Illinois, he was son of the late Walter E. and Cordelia Brandenburg Underwood. For over 33 years he was a most devoted husband to his wife, Frances Ellen Underwood, mother of his children.

John retired at the rank of Tech Sergeant after a distinguished 21 year career as a Missile Maintainer, Radio Repairman and Combat Controller in the United States Air Force. A Korean War veteran, he accomplished more than 200 jumps as a Master Paratrooper during his military career. He loved his country with a passion! In addition he worked for 15 years for the Michelin Corporation in Greenville. John dearly loved and supported his church, Big Creek Baptist Church of Williamston.

John's legacy is continued by sons Frederick E. Cooper of Hendersonville, N.C., and Chaplain, Lt. Col. Ron Underwood (Paulette) of Sumter; daughters Cathy F. Matheny (John) of Williamston, Jonnie Ellen Lagrifolle of Williamston, Kimberly Ruth Keepfer (Scott) of Williamston, Victoria Jane Hartley (Ray) of Myrtle Beach, and Carol Lyn Chandler of Anderson; nieces Jeannie Duke and Kaye Beatty, both of Greenville; and loving friend and companion Johnnie Bell of Williamston. John also is survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Walter Underwood, and a sister, Betty Merz.

The service celebrating the life of Mr. Underwood will be held on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at 3 PM at the Big Creek Baptist Church of Williamston, with the Rev. Mitch Gambrell officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1 PM-2:30 PM.

Clyde Howard Celebration of Life

Dear CCA Members,

If you haven’t heard the news, Clyde Howard passed away last week. He was found in his garage slumped over his office computer… likely died of a heart attack. Keeping with Clyde’s wishes and “style” he didn’t want a funeral service or a memorial ceremony. Keeping with those wishes his brother, Eddie, and Clyde’s children invite you to attend a “party” in his memory at the VFW Spectre Post on Hwy. 98 in Navarre, Fla. tomorrow, 30 Dec. at 1330.

P.S. With our CCA Secretary on leave, I looked through the CCA Directory to find those I thought were close to Clyde and those in the local area who may be able to attend his celebration. If you know of others, please let them know.

This has been a sad two weeks for CCT. For those who haven’t been on Facebook or the CCA Blog, you may not have been notified of our loses. We lost Rex Evitts (Cancer), Gus Rhinehart (Cancer), Stan Braxton (stroke and complications following a motorcycle racing accident) and Clyde within the last two weeks. Not a very good holiday season for their family and friends.

MSgt (Retired) Larry D. “Gus” Rhinehart has passed

MSgt (Retired) Larry D. “Gus” Rhinehart passed away in hospice on 15 December 2011 after a long bout with cancer. Gus was a career Combat Controller who served in the United States Air Force from 1970-1994. Gus’ CCT assignments included Dyess AFB, Ramstein AB, Langley AFB, McChord AFB, Rhine Main AB, Hurlburt Field, Scott AFB and Kirtland AFB. Gus held ratings and qualifications as a Master Parachutist, HALO/HAHO Jumpmaster and Instructor, Combat Diver, Dive Supervisor and Instructor, Castmaster and Rappel Instructor, Cross Country Ski Instructor, Explosives Safety Supervisor and Senior Air Traffic Controller. Gus was also a Sky Hook Master and completed a live Fulton Recovery in 1981. He served in the Gulf War and was awarded the Bronze Star. After Military retirement Gus served 15 years as a Boeing Tower Air Traffic Controller, rising to the position of Tower Chief. Gus was the epitome of the CCT motto “No Sky Too High, No Blast Too Fast, No Job Too Tough, No Sea Too Rough”. Gus was always a team guy who was respected and loved by his team mates.

Sorry to inform you that MSgt (Ret.) Rex Evitts passed away yesterday evening. Fondly called Ranger Rex, he was one of the original team members at Det 1, MACOS (now known as 24 STS). He was on a combat jump into Grenada in 1983. We lost a great team mate and warrior. Condolences to wife Lenora and family members. RIP.

Stan Braxton Injured in Motorcycle Accident

Stan Braxton (CCT, retired) suffered a stroke while riding his track bike at Barbour Motor Speedway near Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday afternoon. At turn 9 he never even affected the turn and drove straight into a barrier. He took a guardrail to the chest, broke his left hand, T-12 vertebrae, and has several smashed ribs. His injuries are so severe they have induced a coma and paralysis until he can be removed from the ventilator and breath on his own. We will not know the extent of any of his other injuries to include the stroke, until they are able to wake him up and evaluate him, so we are in a holding pattern for an extended period of time here at UAB Trauma ICU, in Birmingham.

Please keep Stan in your prayers. This isn't going to go away quickly, so we are in it for the long haul. I know you will be concerned and I will keep everyone as updated as possible, probably using SgtMacsBar.

I know how much you care about Stan and UAB is one of the best trauma centers in the US, so he is right where he needs to be... and I will keep you posted.

Ray Rubel, LM-241, died this afternoon. He was comander of the 1st APS at Dyess in the early 70's, and Ops Officer of the 3 APS, in the 60's, as well as Mobility Officer at the 8th APS 66 to 68, I believe. He lived in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. A memorial sevice is to be held this Sunday - burial is planned in Arliington as soon as it can be arranged. He CCT was a true friend of mine and CCT.

When you are an Air Force combat controller in Afghanistan "just doing my job" can make for a very eventful day at the office.

That is how Staff Sgt. C. Caleb Gilbreath described his actions in a running firefight against the Taliban in Konduz Province Oct. 30 to Nov. 6, 2008, earning him a Silver Star for bravery.

Gilbreath was assigned to a U.S. Army Special Forces team when his unit was ambushed by a large Taliban force outside of a local village. As mortar and rocket-propelled grenade rounds impacted within 15 feet of his position, Gilbreath directed pinpoint bomb strikes that devastated the enemy and halted the attack, according to reports.

Later, Gilbreath's team began a clearing operation in a nearby village when they again came under attack from an estimated 120 Taliban and foreign fighters, officials said. Surrounded by the enemy, the team reached the center of the town as bullets and shrapnel impacted Gilbreath's vehicle from all directions.

September 13, 2011, William T. Hall passed away quietly in the arms of his loving wife of thirty-seven years. Will was born on April 8, 1951 and was raised just outside of Dayton, Ohio in a large extended family. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1969 right out of high school, and after graduating from technical school, Will was assigned to the Combat Control Team at Hurlburt Field, Florida.

On New Years Eve in 1972, Will and Brenda L. Mains met and fell in love. In March 1974, they married and soon received orders for Elmondorf Air Force Base, Alaska where they spent three glorious, fun-filled years in the great outdoors. In 1977, Will separated from the active duty military and chose to move back to paradise here in Northwest Florida, where he soon entered the Air Force Reserves and completed his 20 years of service at Duke Field, Florida.

In 1979, Will and Brenda opened and managed the Flowercart Florist along with another local couple, Dr Keith and Lynne Amiel. In 1989, after selling the florist Will found a job with Civil Service at Sight C-6 in the Freeport area.

In 1991, Will began his battle with cancer. During his initial surgery and chemotherapy, it was only with the help of the leave days donated by his co-workers that Will was able to focus on healing, recovering, and returning to work in remission. Thank you once again. Over the past twenty years, Will’s cancer has returned, and three times he was forced back into surgery. Each time he soldiered on without complaint.

Just before his death, Will was again diagnosed with a recurrence of cancer and he and Brenda went to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville to seek treatment. The chemotherapy was too much this time, and Will spent his last days in the care of Alive Hospice in Nashville Tennessee.

Will was preceded in death by his parents Carl Melvin and Virginia Lee of Bellbrook, Ohio, one younger brother Joe, and his uncle Dave; his parents-in-law Bob and Phyllis Mains. Will is survived by his devoted wife Brenda L. (Mains) Hall, his brothers Steve Hall and wife Janette and Donald Hall and wife Linda; his sisters Linda and husband Fred Wilburn, Joanne and husband Brian Jelley, and Mary Hall; Uncle Tom and Aunt Katie Walton and family and Uncle Bill Walton; sisters-in-law Donna Juslin-Moorcroft and partner Teri Mylett, April F. Mains, Roberta and husband Terry Berry, and Lucinda and husband Bobby Eucker; nephews Donny, Alexander, James, Josh, Zack and wife Stephanie and son Zayne, Andrew and wife Sarah and son Levi, Joshua, and Brandon; nieces Diana and son Andrew, Angela and sons Joey and Jordon, Kelly and husband Jeremie and son Malaki, Beth and daughter Taya, and Ashlea; his “scout troop” Kaleo, Iain, Louis, and Kyle; and many, many “brothers in arms”
and loving cousins and friends.

Will was medically retired for the last ten years of his life, and he and Brenda traveled the country extensively, enjoying all our natural gifts and wonders. Will was an active member of the Air Commando and Combat Control Associations and a proud Okaloosa Democrat. He was an unabashed patriot. Will kept a beautiful garden at his “Florida Vacation Home” here in Mary Esther and was a shameless “tree hugger.” He is sorely missed by all the neighborhood’s stay cats, wild birds, turtles, and snakes too.

William will be remembered at a “celebration of life” to be held at the Soundside Club at Hurlburt Field on Saturday October 1, at 5:00 pm. A RSVP will be required for friends who would like to attend, but don’t have a Military ID Card – please call 244-0633 and leave a message by the evening of Sept. 28.

We will also hold a celebration on the evening of October 28 for all his Combat Control friends to attend during their reunion.

Will’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ming-Chen Chang and Dr. Harvey Hsiang and their staff for the extra twenty wonder-filled years that we shared with Will.

Senior Airman Daniel Sanchez Memorial Push Ups

An Air Force Special Operations Command combat controller died 16 Sept 2010 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Senior Airman Daniel Sanchez, 23, of El Paso, Texas, died at a medical facility in Tarin Kwot, Afghanistan. He was wounded by enemy fire and subsequently died of a gunshot wound.

He was assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla. The 23rd STS will hold a memorial service honoring Airman Sanchez next week, the date and time has not yet been determined.

"This terrible loss is evidence of the ultimate sacrifice our men in Air Force Special Operations Command make to protect our country and our way of life," said Maj. Chris Larkin, 23rd STS Commander. "Danny was a fine Airman and a valuable member of our close community, and he will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies go out to the Sanchez family."

Sad news for us all... Will gave in late this afternoon 13 Sep 11. He has been resting very peacefully for days now. He told me on Sunday that he was nearly full and when he was full, he was done. I guess he was full.

We spent our last lucid moments remembering all the good times we've shared. We replayed all our wonder filled trips and wonderful visits with friends and family. He shared the weekend with friends and family. He played air guitar, air piano, and air trumpet along with the greats of country music being piped in through the speaker in his bed.

Will was the sweetest, kindest, friend and partner anyone could wish for. The hardest part has been having to watch him experience so much pain the last couple of months. Thankfully that pain has not touched him since we moved to this hospice on Friday.

On Monday. I made arrangements with a local funeral home for Will's cremation. After the paperwork is complete and he's ready to go, I will take him back to our Florida vacation home. Right now my plans are to have a cookout around the end of Oct. when many of our friends will be in town for a CCA reunion. I will let you know how our plans progress or change.

Services Saturday for Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew W. Harvell.

LOS ALAMITOS — Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew W. Harvell arrived home for the last time Tuesday.

On a hot, cloudless day at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base, the body of the 26-year-old combat veteran from Long Beach was returned to his family and a group of about 300 mourners.

A public memorial service and burial will be held Saturday.
Harvell died Aug. 6 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter he was in crashed after being hit with enemy fire from Taliban insurgents.

The crash, which killed 38, including 30 Americans, most of whom were elite Navy SEALs, was the largest single deadliest loss for American forces in the decade-old war.

On 1 Oct 2011, the Pinehurst Triathlon will be held. Men and women from the 21STS, 43AG, and other units will swim 1500m, bike 30 miles, and run 6.2 miles. Some will do all three events, some will race as a team, while some will volunteer. All are raising money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF).

The SOWF started in 1980 following the Iranian hostage rescue attempt. They provided college educations for the 17 children who survived the nine men killed or incapacitated at Desert One.

Today, the SOWF provides the children of fallen warriors with a full college education, including tuition, books, fees, room and board, and a computer and printer. SOWF also provides immediate financial assistance to the families of severely wounded special operations warriors.

This year's ride was by far the longest loop we have done. The loop was 1012 miles of spectacular mountain and high desert roads. The event started with a BBQ at the Firehouse Pub where we collected over $1k in t-shirt sales, raffle items, and simply good will donations. The ride started off with 49 riders that went to the Evergreen Air Museum for a photo in front of the Spruce Goose followed by a personal tour of the museum by the Director of Operations, Larry Woods. Every stop that was made turned into a mini reunion with those that we only see once a year and of course lots of questions from the public wondering who and what we were all about. It is still amazing to me that the majority of people have heard of the Wounded Warrior Program but not the SOWF, even though they have been around for over 30 years. In regards to spreading the word, the motorcycle ride was an absolute success.

I'm not sure who rode the farthest to get to the ride but Rick Akset came up from AZ, Mark Nevatt from So CA, and Roger D James came in from MT. All of them rode over a 1000 miles just to get to the start, well done! Old Dog Roger also brought a CCT patch that generated another $500 of donations, thank you! Crater Lake is absolutely amazing to see in person. The road getting to the park was equally amazing with a 140 miles of twists and turns following a mountain river with the scent of evergreens nearly overwhelming. No major issues other than one bike giving up the ghost after the big photo at the museum. Jim Ihlan's bike decided that the first stop was going to be it's last. I have to give it to Jim for keeping the commitment strong with the riders coming out of the Tacoma area. Next year we will have a chase car and trailer to make sure everyone can stay in the game. Already thinking about next year and promise that lessons learned this year will make it even better next year.

According to archive research conducted by the 37th Training Wing Office of History, Lt. Col. Glenn Palmer is the first BMT commander who has also served in the enlisted corps.

Palmer was in Air Force Special Operations for 16 years, becoming a master sergeant as a combat controller before entering Officer Training School.

Jack Fanning Bike Ride

Dave Drake, Mike Paulson, myself and a few others are taking a ride to go visit/pick up Jack Fanning's spirits as we've done in the past w/ former unit member Chad Giesige.

Could you post something on the CCA site to let others know what we're doing? So others can join us for part or all of the ride? Of course, the most important section of the ride would be to have as many bikes as possible roll up to Jack's place just outside of Dallas, but the ride should be fun, hitting all of the good watering holes along the route there and back, so any portion of the ride that guys want to join us would be great.

The tentative schedule is:

Depart Pope 28 or 29 July, (depending on when CM and others can get out of work), towards Hurlburt on back roads, (not going to push that too hard...2 days ride). There we are going fishing w/ RB for a day after we get there. Hope to see you while there.

Leave Hurlburt towards San Antonio on or about Sunday, 31 July or Monday, 1 Aug. (Route will be 6hrs a day or so, hitting points of interest, thirst quenching and stopping early enough to cool off at motel pool each day of the trip).

We're going to San Antonio to visit injured/recovering unit member who is rehabbing there, "K-Bar", aka Gino Kahanauele before riding north to see Jack Fanning.
We plan on spending a day after arriving at each spot.

The route back will weave up to Tennessee and then back towards Pope...TBD, arriving Pope on/about 10 Aug.

Anyone interested in joining the ride, give me a call & we can advise where we are during the ride to link up.

If you are a combat controller and participated in a major training exercise, combat
operation or humanitarian mission in the 1980 to 2000 time frame this message is for you.

The Combat Control School Association (CCSA - the military side) and CCS Heritage Foundation (CCSHF - the civilian side) at Pope Army Airfield, NC needs your assistance in filling historical gaps at the Alcide S. “Bull” Benini Heritage Center and Museum (BHC).

As you know, the BHC is dedicated to displaying artifacts and photographs of Combat Controllers in action. This task includes Training, Combat and Humanitarian operations around the world. To complete our task, we need your assistance in the collection of mission-oriented equipment, uniforms and photographs. Take a peek at the New Combat Control School on opening day. to get an idea of what we are talking about.

The BHC seeks your assistance in filling gaps in our historical displays. Our early history, through the Vietnam era is well documented; although we can always use supplemental items and photographs. In addition, the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) is well represented with artifacts and photos returned by many of those Combat Controllers who deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. But we have a great shortfall in the period between 1980 and 2000.

I have researched the 1980-2000 combat operations and have determined they are more than I have space to list in this article. So, if you participated in a major training exercise, combat operation or humanitarian mission in the 1980 to 2000 time frame this message is aimed at you.

· Send your old uniforms, hats, caps, patches, team equipment, field gear, radio gear and other items that you may have forgotten to turn-in when you cleared the team for the last time. Serialized items are accepted with without attribution and listed on the incoming inventory as found on base.

WHAT TO DO:
1. Collect the items you are donating.
2. Make an inventory sheet, listing each item.
3. Indicate your estimated value.
4. If the item has a story, tell it; at very least tie it to a date, location and operation.
5. At the bottom of the inventory sheet, include a note: “I understand that the property listed on this inventory sheet is donated to the Combat Control School and will become the permanent property of the U.S. Air Force.” Then sign it. Be sure to include your return address.
6. The CCSHF is a North Carolina registered charitable organization IAW IRS Tax Code 501 (c) 3 and will (when requested) issue a Tax Exempt Statement for Federal Income Tax purposes. Your priced inventory sheet will be attachment to the statement.

Members of the 123rd Special Tactics Run for SOWF

Twelve members of the 123rd Special Tactics Squadron will run in Kentucky’s, Bourbon Chase, 200 mile relay on October 7th and 8th 2011. The Teams goal is to raise $10,400 for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). The race is a unique, overnight relay adventure in which the Team will cover 200 miles of scenic byways along the famous Kentucky bourbon Trail. Starting near Bardstown, the Bourbon Capital of the World, and wrapping up with a festive finish in downtown Lexington, the Horse Capital of the World. The Team of 12 consists of Air Forces Special Operations Combat Controllers and Pararescuemen. Each member of the Team will run three legs over distances varying from 3-8 miles. Everyone on the Team has directly felt the pain and loss of fellow Special Operations Operators and this is our way to give back to the families!

PROFILE: SSgt Jacob Poulliot Combat Controller

Jacob Poulliot grew up near San Antonio as part of an Air Force family. He went to Lackland Air Force Base regularly and watched combat controllers in training. When Jacob saw them, he was intrigued and thought that might be the right job for him. Before he went to Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Jacob began researching and training for a combat control career.
“Knowing that I was going into the combat control career field, I wanted to be in the best shape I could ever be in. I talked to people who knew how to exercise, and who knew how to stay in shape. I also talked to some guys who are actually in the career field, and they helped me out.”

Crate, 26, of Spanaway Wash. All were assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla. These teammates were lost when their plane crashed May 30 2005 about 80 miles north east of Baghdad in the Diyala province.

With the anniversary of these warriors passing coming on Sunday (30 May 11) STTS will be conducting its official formation on Friday so as to have maximum participation, feel free to conduct your personal set of memorial push ups on Sunday as well.

Sean Hopkins, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries he suffered in the crash.

According to a Tuesday news release from the Colorado State Patrol, Hopkins was traveling westbound down CR 43 in a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer when he drove off the left side of the roadway and down an embankment.

Spike TV and GRB Entertainment are looking for a few good Special Ops for its newest challenge series, “Most Lethal.” Hosted by former U.S. Navy Seal Richard “Mack” Machowicz, the new one-hour series will feature real-life warriors from the top tiers of special operation forces as they face-off in a grueling competition to determine who is the fiercest.

Applicants seeking to compete must no longer be on active duty and have served in SOF units such as Navy SEALs, Army Special Forces, Army Rangers, Marine Force Recon, Air Force Combat Control Team or Pararescue Teams. Must also be physically fit and combat ready.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Twelve elite combat operators will compete in an intense and demanding series of challenges based on real world training and missions. WOUNDED WARRIOR PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Wounded Warrior Program was established to create fellowships that will provide employment opportunities for wounded or disabled veterans within the U.S. House of Representatives.

Positions may become available in Member, Committee and Leadership offices in Washington, D.C. and in district offices nationwide. Those selected for the program will be given the opportunity to rotate into various positions and, if a fit is found, transition into full-time employment.

The positions will be filled by veterans who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001, had less than 20 years of service and have a minimum 30 percent service-connected disability rating from either a military Physical Evaluation Board or the Department of Veterans Affairs. The 30 percent threshold was established to target those injured veterans who are more likely to need this type of employment opportunity. If a fellowship is located within a Member's district, the appointment is contingent on the Representative's continuous representation of that district.

Wounded Warrior Fellows are hired to fill specific vacancies in the offices of participating Members. Their salaries are paid for by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and the fellows do not count against the personnel ceilings of the participating Member offices. Although full time employment is not guaranteed at the conclusion of the two year fellowship, Members or Officers assigned a fellow are reminded the purpose of the program is to facilitate long-term employment with the House of Representatives. Consideration should be given to reaching that goal sometime before the expiration of the two year fellowship.

The performance and progress of each fellow will be tracked closely by the Director of the Wounded Warrior Program. Workspace modifications will be accommodated, when possible, to provide maximum opportunities to those veterans who meet the job qualifications and have the desired skill sets to fill a position, notwithstanding their physical limitations. All wounded warriors hired to the fellowship program will appear on the rolls of the CAO and will be entitled to the same benefits as other House employees.

TSgt John Chapman Memorial Push Ups

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Title 10, Section 8742, U.S.C., awards the Air Force Cross to TSgt John Chapman for extraordinary heroism in military operation against an armed enemy of the United States as a 24th Special Tactics Squadron, Combat Controller in the vicinity of Gardez, in the eastern highlands of Afghanistan, on 4 March 2002.

On this date, during his helicopter insertion for a reconnaissance and time sensitive targeting close air support mission, Sergeant Chapman's aircraft came under heavy machine gun fire and received a direct hit from a rocket propelled grenade which caused a United States Navy sea-air-land team member to fall from the aircraft. Though heavily damaged, the aircraft egressed the area and made an emergency landing seven kilometers away.

Once on the ground Sergeant Chapman established communication with an AC-130 gunship to insure the area was secure while providing close air support coverage for the entire team. He then directed the gunship to begin the search for the missing team member. He requested, coordinated, and controlled the helicopter that extracted the stranded team and aircrew members. These actions limited the exposure of the aircrew and team to hostile fire.

Without regard for his own life Sergeant Chapman volunteered to rescue his missing team member from an enemy strong hold. Shortly after insertion, the team made contact with the enemy. Sergeant Chapman engaged and killed two enemy personnel. He continued to advance reaching the enemy position then engaged a second enemy position, a dug-in machine gun nest. At this time the rescue team came under effective enemy fire from three directions.

From close range he exchanged fire with the enemy from minimum personal cover until he succumbed to multiple wounds. His engagement and destruction of the first enemy position and advancement on the second position enabled his team to move to cover and break enemy contact. In his own words, his Navy sea-air-land team leader credits Sergeant Chapman unequivocally with saving the lives of the entire rescue team.

Through his extraordinary heroism, superb airmanship, aggressiveness in the face of the enemy and the dedication to the service of his country, Sergeant Chapman reflects the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, presented CMSgt (ret) Wayne Norrad the DeProspero Lifetime Achievement Award on 8 Feb in Washington DC.

The DeProspero Award is presented annually and recognizes sustained, distinguished service of an individual who has made distinctive contributions in the areas of Special Operations or Low Intensity Conflict over a period of many years.

Chief Norrad received the award from the National Defense Industrial Association. The other major award recipient was General (ret) Pete Schoomaker.

Thanks a lot for the help. Here is the newest mock-up from Kimber. Two changes though- There will be no green feet (only lightning bolt). And the display case will have a glass top with the CCT flash engraved in the glass. If you could change the old pics to this on the CCA website I would appreciate it so all the people can see the newest product.

The position, which reports to the Director of Executive Protection, is responsible for the collection, analysis, production, and dissemination of critical and time-sensitive information of relevance to the safety and security of company personnel and the organization’s global assets and operations.

Operational requirements range from routine monitoring of open-source and proprietary information sources in support of advance travel & events planning for company protectees, to Early Warning and Crisis Management support for corporate security, senior leadership, and other key stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Directly lead and manage Protective Intelligence (PI) efforts across a range of company activities including requirements management, Open-Source information collection, analysis and writing.

· Monitor open source media, law enforcement, homeland security, and commercial bulletins/information sources for international, national, and local news and intelligence that may impact the safety and security of company employees, operations, and assets.

· Produce written and verbal reports and analyses for employees and management of the company both on routine and ad-hoc assignments.
Minimum Requirements for position:

· BA in Humanities, Journalism, International Relations or related field.

· Advanced degree preferred.

· Corporate experience preferred

· At least 3 years experience in any combination of intelligence and security disciplines

Other Information:

· Salary range between $65K and $85K (based on experience.)

· Location: Greater Chicago region (no relocation benefits available.)
