JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, WA – Ten medals will be awarded to airmen of the 22nd Special Tactics Squadron by Lt. Gen. Bradley A. Heithold, commander of Air Force Special Operations Command, during a ceremony here, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. The medals are being awarded for combat actions during deployments to Afghanistan.
Tech. Sgt. Matthew McKenna, a combat controller, will be presented the Silver Star Medal, the nation’s third highest decoration for valor, for gallantry he displayed in connection with military operations in Afghanistan, September 2013.
