Two soldiers to receive degrees posthumously

A soldier and an airman who were killed in Afghanistan this year will be honored posthumously with college degrees.

The men were members of a joint team comprised of Fort Bragg soldiers and airmen from Pope Air Force Base.

Tech. Sgt. William Jefferson, of the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, was killed in action March 22 when his vehicle was blown up by a roadside bomb near Sperwan Ghar, the release said.

His widow, Kristyn and their 8-year-old daughter, Tyler, will accept Jefferson’s master’s degree in business administration from Webster University.
