24th Civilian Green Team Instructor

The 24th STS is looking to hire 3 former CCT civilians. Preferably ex-24th guys who have had or can obtain a TS. Has experience or knowledge of the 24th mission. Has the right aptitude to instruct fairly experienced Green Team OTC candidates as well as experienced in training trip and exercise planning.

Green Team is currently a satellite team from the main squadron. We are the lead team to move out to the Aberdeen Training Facility on the far western edge of the Ft. Bragg ranges, so it is much more advantageous to live in the Southern Pines area, (which is just a few minutes away from work), rather than the Fayetteville area, (for those of you for whom that would be a major drawback associated w/ the job).

The positions will be GS-12 positions coupled w/ Premium pay.

If interested contact our recruiting cell at 24STSRecruiting@jdi.socom.mil

Afghanistan Chopper Crash

"Many of you are probably wondering if CCT lost anyone on the helicopter crash in Afghanistan recently. I'm happy to report that we did not. We did have a SOWT brother involved, but his injuries are minor cuts and bruises... thank God for that. Please remember our Army comrades who did go down in the crash. We pray for their families and friends".

Jerry Bennett Remembrance

It was 23 years ago today, 27 October 1986, that Technical Sergeant Jerome E. Bennett was fatally injured during a training parachute deployment while assigned to the 24th Special Tactics Squadron. Jerry was conducting a high-altitude freefall jump with the Army's Delta Force when he had a parachute malfunction and died shortly after impacting the ground under a partially deflated parachute canopy.

The Combat Control Association continues to honor Jerry by sponsoring an award in his name. The TSgt Jerome E. Bennett Award is presented at the Combat Control School graduations to the Combat Control School student who best exemplifies the attributes of Technical Sergeant Jerome E. Bennett, namely, that of being a team player, continually putting others ahead of himself; keeping the team together, and striving for mission
success.

Not only was Jerry a "plank holder" at the 24 STS, he was also the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 165-pound class boxing champion in 1977.

He was a great person, Combat Controller, champion and awesome teammate!

This day in our CCT history, 23 years ago, was a sad one... we lost Jerry Bennett.

24 Position

The 24th STS Black Team has one contractor position in need of being filled immediately.

There is a potential for as many as 12 more to be filled as we grow into a Group.

What we are looking for is:
Preferably a former 24th CCT w/ good survey skills.
Secondly a former non-24th CCT w/ same.

Preferably, they need to either have a TS currently or w/in the last 10 yrs.
Secondly, they can obtain one, (no financial or legal history which wouldn't allow this).

CCA Reunion Schedule Change

Reunion Goers!

We’ve made a last minute revision to the reunion schedule for Saturday the 17th. We’ve switched the times for the business meeting and the memorial.

The Memorial service will take place at 1300 instead of in the morning. And the business meeting will now be held at 0900 Saturday morning. The locations remain the same; only the times have changed. So mark your schedules accordingly.

This is just another example of the great flexibility CCT has always shown.

CCT WIA

ST Family,
Last night we were notified that SSgt Robert Gutierrez of the 21 STS Team was wounded when his team came under attack by small arms and RPG fire. He suffered a gunshot wound to the upper chest. Overall he is doing well and is very stable. He is up and about and in good spirits and very motivated to get started on his recovery.

Please keep GZ and his family in your prayers for a quick recovery.
